Remove Rust From Shower Rod

Since vinegar softens the rust layer grinding won t be necessary.
Remove rust from shower rod. A sponge with an abrasive pad works well to remove rust. Rub your scratching pad over the entire surface to remove any loose rust particles. Rub back and forth along the length of the shower rod applying steady pressure.
Wear safety glasses and leather work gloves to remove the rust from the shower rod. As you scrub you should start seeing the rust disappear before your very eyes. Hold the shower rod steady with one hand and rub a steel wool pad over areas of rust.
You may also choose to wear a face mask. Step 2 cut a sheet of aluminum foil into small squares and dip one of these squares in water. Gently scrub the shower rod with a piece of aluminum foil treated with the vinegar.
Remove the aluminum foil and paper towels from the rod. Remove surface scum and soap deposits by wiping the shower rod down with a damp rag. You can also dip it in vinegar which accelerates the cleaning process by dissolving the rust as you rub.
Step 3 sandpaper or steel wool. Clean the rod surface thoroughly with a piece of cloth. When you begin to neutralize a rusty shower curtain rod you need to protect your hands work in an area with decent ventilation and use a commercial rust dissolver.
Mix one part vinegar with one part warm water in a spray bottle if you re dealing with a hard to remove rust stain. Dip your sponge in a soap and water mixture to thoroughly clean. Because the metal on shower rods is so thin it is important to remove rust from the shower rod.
